Mermaids- Women's Surfing Weekend
Last weekend saw women from all over Ireland flock to Lahinch, Co Clare for Mermaids Women's Surfing Weekend. Over 100 women participated in the event.
The weekend provided women (and girls) of all ages and surfing abilities with an opportunity to meet and share information and advice on surfing while introducing newcomers to the sport in an all female environment.
The weekend was about learning, inspiring others and sharing our excitement and passion for surfing. Out of the water, new friendships were made and surf stories shared during the beach lunch, yoga, belly dancing and night time entertainment.
Mermaids Women's Surfing Weekend was hosted by West Coast Surf Club and the Irish Surfing Association under the Women in Sport Initiative, run by the Irish Sports Council, to encourage more Irish women to participate in sport.
