Panama ISA World Masters Surfing Championship

The Panama ISA World Masters Surfing Championship is taking place this week in Santa Catalina, Panama. Mike Young is representing Ireland in the Grand Kahuna division at the event. Although he was eliminated in Round 1 he made a great comeback to win his heat in Rep 1 to progress to Rep 2 where he will surf off against Roberto Andrade, Brazil, Leonel Perez Yanez, Mexico and Mario Estevez, Guatemala later today.

Mike learned to surf in Panana in 1965 and currently lives there were he runs a  a sport fishing resort on Isla Cebaco. Mike’s Irish connection is via his mother who hails from Belfast.
