Quiksilver King of the Groms

Over sixty young surfers took part in the Quiksilver King of the Groms held at Rossnowlagh beach on Saturday 20th June. The event we hosted by Rossnowlagh Surf Club and the Irish Surfing Association and sponsored by Quiksilver, Orange and Sony Ericsson.

Aron O’Hare from strandhill took the U12s title demonstrating great potential for the future. Garbhan Mc Closkey finished 2nd, Josh Browne 3rd and Louis Devany 4th. Gearoid Mc Daid and Donagh Cronin dominated the U14s with Gearoid edging into 1st place ahead of Donagh in the final. Neil Murphy finished 3rd and Conor Mc Kinney 4th. Niamh Kelly, Strandhill took the U16 Girls with Meadb Mc Closkey 2nd and the Mc Gonigle sisters, Grainne and Fiona, 3rd and 4th. In a very tight final in the U16s Conor Maguire took 1st narrowly beating Cian Logue on a count back. Iarom Madden took 3rd and Patrick Gaynor fourth.

Spencer Hargraves from Quiksilver presented all the finalists with some great prizes and Conor Maguire will be travelling to Spain for the King of the Groms European final later in the summer.
